Jay Nicolas Sario
Jay Nicolas Sario debuted his first eponymous collection during New York Fashion Week in February 2010 with a runway presentation. The Fall 2010 show at Bryant Park garnered him numerous positive reviews. National publications and influential persons in the fashion industry enthusiastically recognized Sario's talent and aptitude in creating an impressive runway show.
Sario was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States at 17. It was in Hawaii that his design career truly began. While studying at the Honolulu Community College, Sario worked as a window dresser for the Gap, where he discovered his love for visual merchandising. In 2001, after 2 years of learning fashion, Sario moved to San Francisco, California hoping to make a name for himself in the City's fashion design scene. He began his career at Gap, Inc and quickly moved up as one of the lead stylists and visual merchandisers for the global retailer while he created capsule collections and designed for individual clients. Although not a part of his plan, working for the Gap helped Sario sharpen his design and styling skills, develop and evolve his taste level, and grow as an individual.
In 2009, Sario became one of the sixteen contestants vying to win Project Runway Season 7. Utilizing his raw, natural talent and uncanny ability to create innovative and fashion forward pieces, Sario placed fourth and heralded as the winner during his season.
With Project Runway reinvigorating his passion for fashion, he left his ten years of creative stint at Gap to establish his own label, JAY NICOLAS SARIO. Sario presently resides in New York City.
